The band is one of Scotland's oldest, having been around for over 110 years.

After dwindling to just 6 players by the end of 1996, the band has been steadily rebuilding. Many members who joined since then had stopped playing some twenty or so years earlier. They decided to take up their instruments again following a local newspaper appeal for an influx of players to save the band from extinction!

After an initial period of re-learning, we tried our hand at playing competitively. At the Scottish Championship in February 1999, for the first time for nearly 10 years the band took part in the competition.

Since then the band has been competing regularly at the Scottish Championships and have twice been to the National Finals.
